Located in Decorah Iowa. The first two were taken at a fish hatchery and is manmade. Is the second picture to dark?

The second set was at Dunning springs. The information says it is Iowa's largest waterfall.

Comments both good and room for improvement are always welcome. It is a 2 hour drive from me, but I can always go back again.

Love water falls. I love your set thank you for sharing.
We stopped at the fish hatchery that stream video of the eagle's nest.
Where would this one be found.

Hi Jill, I like the composition, but it seems to me the photos may be a bit too "contrasty." #2 has the right amount of motion to it, but the background is almost completely dark. You could use a brush tool to brighten it without affecting the other parts of the image. Well done!

Yes, the second picture is too dark, and no need to drive for 2 hours. Assuming you use Lightroom or another post-processing program, position a graduated filter from the waterfall up and open up shadows to reveal the hidden detail

Unfortunately the nest by the hatchery is no long used and the eagles have move on to a new nest. The new nest is located on private property and the owners do not want it streamed. I did not even see any eagles frying around. There is another nest, the Decorah North nest that you can still stream live. Eggs at that nest should be hatching soon.

I appreciate your helpfulness. Right now I do not use lightroom. I tried to lighten it up with another on line program. But I may have went to far and lightened it up too much.

I think you did fine on your rework, Jill. It all depends on what you want to show.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, Mike. I appreciate your comments because I always enjoy your photos.
I like the lighting on this one better, but not sure I am happy with the bluff to water ratio.

Download ACDSee, there's a freebie version that has the tools you need.

Watch out, Jill! Post-processing addiction sign! Next you will want to adjust the color (LOL). Post processing is half the fun of showing what you saw to others. The cropping for emphasis, light levels, colors - they are all at your finger tips.

I like waterfalls, too, JJ. Something about the negative ions the falling water gives off and its calming effect on the human soul. These are nice. Yes, a "control-point" in the deep shadows of #2 and a little boost of brightening-and-contrast there would make you smile.

These are lovely waterfalls. To my mind, the "redo" is a tad overbright. That rock section above is in deep shadow, apparently, so leaving it dark with just enough lightening to show detail might retain better the natural look to the scene. The water treatment is perfect.
