Need your recommendations - I need a new monopod - my Manfoto is wearing out and will not hold my equipment any longer. I shoot with Nikon D750 and my largest lens currently70-200 with plans on the purchase of the Nikon 200-500 soon. Do not have to carry very far so weight is not too much of a concern -I mainly shoot high school baseball/football/soccer. I read the manufacturer's specs but would appreciate the real-world experience.

Cant help you with a choice of Mono-pods, but i just got my 200-500.
Killer lens, while mounted on my camera, its a total weight of 7.8 pounds, so I would take that into consideration of choices of mono-pods.
Happy hunting.

I suspect that heads will be more important than leg. You can use a ball head but the monopod specific heads that dont flip sideways make it far more easy to keep images level. If you want vertical orientation both of your proposed lenses have collars you can twist to get there.

The head I use and can recommend - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sirui-VH-10-Aluminum-Professional-Fluid-Video-Head/274702164730?hash=item3ff58662fa:g:EYEAAOSwlhVgBJI9

This pod is 1-hand adjustable and gets good reviews - I do not have one tho ....https://www.ebay.com/itm/iFootage-Cobra-2-Strike-A150S-3-Section-Aluminum-Telescopic-Monopod-with-Stand/392774997295?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item5b7336d52f:g:3vwAAOSwXBNgF9HS&amdata=enc%3AAQAFAAACcBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%252Fn%252BzU5L90Z278x5ickkyMJZWL%252BqFSgQ3TOOe%252FNr7gG1EDRZ1qbHospMB5b%252BdBAP3Rz1sR0Kuv3TK1OGPICfvyNIHTsY2vTnV28iqP3xxZs%252B6N2KsQxb013P2I5z3tKqlm4YyfNSFjr0nkTNXM4nRYTibJb1sb4V5y3xpfnM8CYrRt1eikN2w4VIWTKKoZTEOAnO3L7qkoOXcrcNgePA7gnHnHUemleeOTyFeTHN%252FN6FxP3rgI6TmbTbnXeJYsRyeOfzqutpkg4N607yJRRsk2dUMfedmQT%252FMBO8RWM2jlUFWthoIndUY8bsrrjXNT8zQhj%252FzQQicuiHpCCa2SIz1Cg4Jc0um730e1XGDkiezuvlUtJCerZEuyM5GXr8xHk8rN2SscCbPPCZmqsurGlpBViKhlK4ON9fky67NX4pZ52xFzCWgXqdQJq0giloirOSTaNZJcq3D797I0u49BUZG0NhYSzada7bXlTjunhTJMYNMK%252Fn8o0nzP1abYInSDGvSq5HPaHwdTMyFz3k9A%252BYqSRTDC8bGRD3AAX9Aq4gga2CBkcrccHsOQWiJ%252BKLtDXZsbY9BkRFuInSr%252Ffob3uV9wHaspfxpD%252F7SH6KAKaIk7TxFV6fsfzlvi380FUVDZsbUkdYejAYJ%252Bi9pOXKBDAU8EOjHvEDBQFtEynCRUHkTNTAaCZ%252FmP8rSkIbWQHDfKW1UsMMaR4M%252BNv%252FQMT4xmGd%252Fx1svzdhgwRVcyD9UUxZFmNSgrTOXyt9gGk8CEL84%252F3BQBsZUeLkWl9UIMzgkr5QaJrgN%252BloFI%252FFgxz48LmfWQ%253D%253D%7Ccksum%3A3927749972951f6f8a150bc44af8b94a9690b416afd0%7Campid%3APL_CLK%7Cclp%3A2334524

I recently bought a Pro Master Professional MPV 432 (Replacing a Mogo Pod) Im local Bird hunting and have adapted a Sony A6000 and Sony FE 200-600. This Mono Pod has a removable 3 point contact base with a ball joint. Have had it out 3 times and I was surprised how well the base works and seems much more steady than my old single point pod. Its simple to drop down, adjust for height and operate, easier than the Mogo pod.. Currently don't have a head installed but soon to receive an Induro TH2 Tilt Head. (that will add almost another pound ?)

Feisol. Great Monopod. Reasonable price. Will support your weight of D750 and 200-500.
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/848842-REG/FEISOL_CM_1471_CM_1471_Rapid_Monopod.html

The CM-1471 Carbon Fiber Rapid Monopod from Fiesol is a lightweight, four-section camera support that makes it possible to capture rock-steady images without needing to carry or set up a tripod. The monopod's twist-lock leg stages are quick and easy to lock into place securely. The maximum height is 5.57", and the monopod supports up to 24.25 lb, so you can mount any DSLR camera with most lenses, a point & shoot model, or even a compact camcorder.

I would highly recommend a video monopod with the three feet base. Really helps steady the equipment and made to handle heavy equipment should you decide. Have used both and would go with video monopod again when the time comes.

Regardless of what monopod you end up with I would also recommend the following: Wimberley MonoGimbal Head. this is an offset head with Arca-Swiss style clamp that you attach the rotating lens collar of your zoom lens to. It makes it extremely easy to rotate the camera body, makes it much easier to carry camera, lens and monopod, and INMHO, makes shooting with a large lens much easier, particularly for bird and wildlife photography.

2nd the Wimberley Monopod Head suggestion. Lightweight, well made & functional.

I agree with the responder who recommended looking for the head to use with your monopod as being the most important choice that you need to make.
I started with a ball head camera mount on my monopod and it wasn't acceptable at all. the sidewise motion was a distraction and was not useful !
I have since replaced it with a two-way only mount that works like a champ.

take a look at the Sirui L-10 L10 Tilt Head Pro Two-dimensional HeadsWith TY-60 Quick Release Plate. It is very substantial and works well with heavy camera and lenses.

As for the monopod get a nice light graphite one for about $120. Benro makes them and they are still well respected.

After having used a Monostat monopod for 20 years (manufactured in Europe - don't think they are around any longer) I switched to a Steadicam AIR:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1387415-REG/steadicam_steadicam_air_25_monopod.html

I shoot (or, at least, shot - not sure if that's another permanent victim of Covid) a lot of flat track roller derby games from the stands and having the foot release air piston height control made it quite simple to adjust the height virtually instantly when I repositioned myself. The single large rubber foot rotates and has good grip on all kinds of surfaces, which also helps.

Someone mentioned the Wimberly monopod head - and I use that when I take the AIR to the bird refuge and use a 200MM f2 lens - also works quite well.

I shoot semi-pro football, soccer, lacrosse and softball and baseball. I shoot with mainly with a 7DMKII and 6DMKII with a 70-200 f/2.8 also at times 100-400 f/4. When I started shooting I used a monopod but had a few broken when players ran into it. Now I handhold and I think it's better for me instead of a monopod. The reason the monopods were broken is that I shoot from the sidelines and at age 75 a little hard to turn and run! lol..... As a great man once said "Sh-t Happens!"
