What are your current lenses and just how far away is far away? Can you post a shot taken with your current lens?
The Canon 800mm/f5.6 is $13k new. Ouch. For $4k (Canon R6 at $2500 + RF 800mm/f11 at $900 + RF 2x Extender at $600) you'll have a very nice birding setup with Canon's latest camera and lens technology.

What lens do you have and how far away? The 80D is a fine camera for the use, but need more info on your current lens and the distance.
Going there in a few weeks, where did you find the eagles?

The Canon EF 600mm lens with a 2x teleconverter on a sturdy tripod.
But keep in mind. I know of an eagles nest that is very far away and even with the best lens and a doubler, I couldn't get a good image. The only thing I can do is go there often, wait to see where the eagles go for hunting, and get pictures of them up close or in flight where I know they usually hunt for fish etc.... My eagle nest is so far away that even if I had Canons 800mm lens and the doubler I wouldn't get a good image. So the bottom line is to know the limitations of your camera and all the lenses made.

I have and use a Canon 80D and consider it the camera of choice most times and use it on a tripod all the time for my Bluebird interest. I keep it mounted to a Tamron 150-600g2 with a tamron 1.5 extender. I have always gotten excellent results-in my opinion—. That’s the lens I would recommend and doubt you would ever be dissatisfied. An excellent lens.
My mistake. That should read a Tamron 1.4 extender.😔
I'm sorry. There is no bird photo that is worth $13,000. Birds are beautiful but................
We rode along alligator alley South Florida, some years ago, there seemed to be a bald eagle or osprey's nest on every pylon, quite near the motorway. We even saw an alligator on the side of the road. I think I saw a panther run across the road, but it was so quick and far away.
I live in Pasco County and there are 4 eagles / Osprey nests in Key Vista Park and they are VERY close to the bike path plus two are across from a picnic bench in opposite directions so you can quickly turn to the one that has activity. I use a Canon SX 70 and it does great at only 3/4 Zoom.

It's called black spring, you go in your car and drive, and toward the end, you will see them high up in a tree.
