Working with PS 2021, On1 and Affinity 1.9 - looking for differences.
D5500 Nikkor 40mm Micro lens.
Ease of use - ON1 and Affinity - basically "Focus stack", selected raw images and hit "go".
Photoshop requires more steps, but I found that the result was better than in Affinity.
Affinity version also had to be resized for UHH limit.
ON1 did something weird with the closest petal, so I discarded it.
Comments/critiques welcome.
The PSE light area on the right is very light, yet the dark area middle is very dark in comparison to the Affinity. It is as tho the Affinity has a better dynamic range

I did make some adjustments to the raw versions in ACR for the PhotoShop version, you do not get that option when importing into Affinity. Most likely where the difference comes from.
I also use a salad of software and I chose them based on what one may do better for a specific task than another. I enjoy Affinity software and I LOVE their approach to making it affordable and not connecting its customers with a ball and chain subscription.

I have a lot of software these days and am trying them all to find their advantages/disadvantages. Some do not have focus stacking or panorama options, but have other great attributes. Maybe I will convert the originals in Rawtherapee or Affinity and use the conversions in Affinity to give it a better chance. PS did a god job, but if I start doing a lot of focus stacking, I would like a shorter process...
Both beautiful! I like the detail in #1 and softness in #2...if that makes sense.
Absolutely! Good eye. The PhotoShop version was adjusted to give more dynamic contrast. Thanks for looking in and for taking the time to comment.
