Yesterday our beautiful German Shepherd, seemed a bit "down" during the afternoon. At 5-30 he refused his food and settled very close to my husband.
at 6 pm I said." dog is in pain, I can tell by his breathing" so husband took him to the 24/7 vet clinic which is near.
blood test, a scan of some type......result a huge tumour on the spleen and large secondaries in the stomach. The euthanized him there and then.
he was 11 years and four months and out old hearts are broken.
love them whilst you can, you never know when that last minute will arrive.
Really sorry for your loss and pain. Hopefully you have a bunch of good memories.
My heart is hurting for you.
We send our condolences. Nothing gives pure love like a dog.

GOD bless you. We lost one of ours two weeks ago and I still cry. He was a good dog. He had started losing lots of weight. Then he started having problems getting up and down and walking. He was never in any pain though thank goodness. He got to the point we decided it was time to put him down. We really didn't want too but was time. The night before we were going to take him in I asked GOD for maybe a few more days. The next morning he seemed a little better and more alert and had gotten up out of bedroom and went and got some food and water. Two days later we came home from taking granddaughter home and he was gone. I loved him so much. The vet said it was special that he passed at home being with his over ones and not as much stress. I know your pain. Bless you.
Tom
I feel your pain because I have been through that scenario too many times!

You are not too old to get another dog. Go to a shelter and get a senior dog and make their life wonderful even if it is just for a short time. They deserve you!
To lose a friend that loves you unconditionally is very painful. The pain never really goes away. My heartfelt condolences on your loss of a faithful friend.

I know the pain your hearts are feeling right now. I have had dogs all my life and have been through the same thing so many times. The two I have now are getting old and will be my last. Prayers for peace and comfort with all your good memories.
