When we moved 6 years ago I donated my 8mm camera to goodwill thinking I had copied all my tapes to computer files. I didn’t feel I had any more use for it.

The other day I was cleaning out a closet and checking the vhs tapes to be sure I had digitized them before tossing. They are and are backed up.

In the mess of a closet I found a box of 8mm video tapes. They need to be digitized before discarding them. My wife and I downsized our house and many contents in 2015 and promised we would finish after we moved. I don’t like to separate myself from stuff. But I am doing a box or so a month.

I am looking to buy or borrow a hi8 or regular 8 mm video playing device. It can be a camera or an 8mm deck

I thought about sending out for digitizing but decided it would be cheaper to get a player and do it myself. I do vhs a lot for family and friends. So I would just have to replace the vhs deck with the 8mm player.

Chuck - I think I have a camera that will do the job for you. It hasn't been used in over 10 years, so I'll have to check what type of 8mm camera it is and if it works. Will let you know in a couple of hours, as I have to go take some grandkids to school on the other side of town.

I bought one from Bestbuy, that lets you record VCR to DVD. It really didn't cost that much.
