A simple concept that worked out for me. A few years ago while shooting the lighthouse in Tobermory, Ontario the lighthouse keeper appeared and I asked him if I could take a shot of him too. This is the result.

Well executed from start to finish.
I hafta think that the keeper would love a copy.

I generally follow up and send 8x10s when I remember to get the contact info. But, often I don't know how good the result will be till I get home. Thanks.

Very nice!!

I'm still trying to learn about composites. Can you share with me the order of your layers? I'm wondering which is the bottom layer, the man or the lighthouse? If I had to guess, I would say the man would be on the layer below the lighthouse layer.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful work!

Thanks. First I established a good background that had a lot of 'open' space in front of the lighthouse.

Next I outlined the portrait of the man in a different file. I used a mask to outline him but you could simply cut him out too.

I then pulled the portrait on top of the background, adjusted its size and added the layer effect of 'Outside Glow'. Minor retouches to the image were made on a layer at the very top of the composite.
