I have a pic with yellow water. because the algae on the bottom was yellow.
I want to change the water back to blue.
IN the past Ive done it like this
Hue and Sat, Adj Layer
click the hand icon.
click the color ( ie yellow water)
then use the sliders to change the color from yellow to blue
except I am not getting blue, only a green with a slight blue tint .

so My question is how would you change water to blue in photoshop.

Color theory maybe= the color wheel, etc. Play around with different colors & see what happens. Try & do this non destructively of coarse.

Yellow PLUS blue makes green.

You probably need to do a two-step adjustment.... first reducing or removing the yellow, then increasing or adding the blue. I can think of several ways to do this selectively. But you might try the method you described using previously, except this time create two layers... use one to reduce the yellow and the other to increase the blue. You can "tweak" each of those layers as needed with the various controls. You also can add a mask to one or both of them if you want to use that to control what part of the image is affected by the layers.

Let us know is this works.

A lot of good info on color selection in photoshop is currently being provided as the free tutorial in Ben Whitmore's Masters Academy.

The 'color' blue has as it's base in the tone Green. With water that you want 'blue' you need to not use the blue channel, but use the CYAN channel. Be mindful of the three positions of Shadow, Midtone, and Highlights.
