Bird Impression in the Snow

We've had 8" of snow and two nights of single-digit temps here in Round Rock.
Saw this snow imprint just outside our patio door.
I think it is from a dove.

Have had the same, what it generally seems to mean it that a bird temporarily stunned itself by flying into the glass and was able to recover and fly away. Sometimes the bird seriously injures itself and remains in the impression.

Just saw a goose today make several prints like that in the virgin snow while landing

Definitely a Mourning Dove as evidenced by the markings on the tail feathers as well as the eye color. 😉😉 Seriously, thanks for posting this very interesting image. Stay warm down there.

I still have smudge where one flew into my window. Happens at least a few times a year. On the third floor 7 will have to wait for warmer weather to get cleaned.
