My cat Petey

Would very much like critique.

Petey is sitting on the window sill, with mountains in the distance.

How would I retain the fluffiness of his coat and the individual hairs if I could delete the mountains and have just white space there.

Thanks in advance.

Edie, I personally think the background would have been fine if left there. Otherwise, some very meticulous work would be needed to retain the furrs and whiskers that were chopped off here.

Or you could just do a re-shoot.

That would require Petey to cooperate, and if you have Cats, you know how difficult that can be.

I'm not really a cat person; but this is a fantastic cat photo! I would crop the right side to get closer to the face. The mountains are not really doing much and white would also just be negative space that is not helping your composition. This is all about that face and those eyes. They are really sharp and you can count hairs on the body of the cat. Slight crop, white matt, metal frame, purrfect. (sorry couldn't help myself). I really do like the photo very much.
