No, it's not a drink, but if you're the adventurous kind...

I had an earache yesterday, and I go for my first Covid shot today. I didn't want anything to interfere with that so I asked friends and looked online, and I discovered a treatment that worked: 50/50 rubbing alcohol and white vinegar. I put some drops in my ear throughout the day, and it's almost perfect now. I'm ready for my 90 minute drive to a needle in the arm.

Speaking of vinegar, I just used a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water on the ice on my windshield, and it did a good job of softening it.

OK, here's a few more home brews that work:
I suffered from a toe nail fungus for decades and nothing seemed to work. For other reasons I started taking a tablespoon full of apple cider vinegar daily followed by a full glass of water, and after a few months of taking this my toe nail is 90% better!

A quick, cheap, and effective cleaning solution that works, and an excellent disinfectant.
In a clean spray bottle like an old Windex bottle add the following:
1 cup ammonia
1 cup rubbing alcohol
fill the rest of the bottle with water and add 1-2 drops Dawn liquid dish soap

Amazing on counters, windows, stove tops eye glasses, etc

I use a lot of 2-ingredient epoxies for my hobby (building radio control aircraft) and the only thing that dissolves undried epoxy allowing for spills and smears to be cleaned up, is white vinegar. Not cider; not red wine; not rice...only white vinegar. No idea why its chemistry is different from the others.

Two more I found effective:
When you get all the green-blue acid build-up around battery terminals in electronic devices, a litter vinegar on a Q-tip instantly dissolves it.

A small dish of Heinz apple cider vinegar with a drop of dish detergent will kill fruit flies like crazy. For some reason, it only seems works with Heinz apple cider vinegar.

Swimmers use that 50/50 mixture in their ears after long swims to prevent ear infection. It's very effective.

That same application has been touted for the control of spotted wing drosophila (Drosophila suzukii) which is a pest of cane fruit (raspberries, blackberries etc.) as well as other soft fruited crops. That pest arrived in the US about 2008 on the west coast and was on the east coast 2 years later. It is a major pest in New England because the climate is ideal for it.

The name comes from the fact that the males have a spot on each wing (no spots on the female). Drosophila generally lay eggs in damaged fruit, and the larvae turn the fruit to soup in a couple days. Drosophila suzukii females have a sawtooth ovipositor, which allows them to lay their eggs in undamaged fruit. That basically destroys the fruit before it actually ripens, seriously affecting crop yields. Gestation is about 3 days and the life cycle (egg to laying female) is 14 days, leading to many generations per year.

The drosophila are attracted to fruit odors, and cider vinegar is a good attractant. The drop of detergent removes the surface tension in the vinegar so if the drosophila touches the vinegar it will sink and drown. An interesting fact about drosophila is that they have taste sensors on their feet. If they land on something sweet it triggers feeding. This has been used occasionally by farmers using pesticides targeting the drosophila. Adding sugar as an adjuvant to a pesticide will increase efficacy. (It's difficult to use pesticides on cane fruit because the time to harvest is generally short).

It's been a couple years since I grew cane fruit and I haven't kept up with the research so the above comments may be superceded by new results.

Many years ago, my wife and I were camping. At dinner I poured a glass of apple cider and drank away. Noticed the taste was wrong, no choking or such, just off. Second try was horrible. Checked bottle and it was apple cider vinegar. Showed the power of the mind.

Sounds like Switzel (sp?) which is a mixture of vinegar and honey. Recommended by some as a health tonic.

A word of advice. This was on the news and my wife suffered when she got the 1st shot because volunteers and untrained technicians administered the shot too high and it goes into the shoulder.
Make sure the technician inserts the needle 3 finger thickness below the shoulder. I’d say about 5” from the tip of the shoulder bone.
HTH.

Jerry maybe you should specify what kind of Vinegar (white) I would say.
White Vinegar is also great for removing rust, and I mean heavy rust!!!
