"Nikon’s stock price went up almost 50% since January 1st and aprox. 10% up since Nikon announced their financial results on February 4th."

That's good news.

Imaging products are 39% of Nikon’s revenues. All sectors are down due to the pandemic. They are moving production around and there are positive signs on investment.

While they are not out of the woods I don’t think their situation is as dire as some people suggest.

That’s nice to hear. But it’s not something that the negativists who revel in the misfortune of others are likely to bring up.

That's good but are their Z cameras equal to Canon and Sony? Even long time Nikon fanboy Ken Wheeler doesn't think so.

As the owner of a Z6 (who replaced his D500 with that camera), I think it is a matter of "some people like Fords, some people like Chevy's" - (or Toyota v. Honda v. Nissan, etc.). I personally think the Nikon Mirrorless cameras are just fine, and their lenses are top-of-the-line and among the best in class.

Don't forget, that Nikon is part of the Mitsubishi Group; I don't see them going anywhere in the near future.

And of course there will be some negativists who will feel so threatened by Nikon’s improvement that they will resort to denigrating Nikon gear.

Matt Granger, "That Nikon Guy" sold his Nikon gear and switched to Sony.

Now he switched back to Nikon.

If I remember correctly, it didn’t take him long to switch back.

Heading out right now to buy three premium Z-7 kits. Maybe four. I’ll do a last minute check in the shares value to see b if I should stick at three or maybe even bump up to five.

Between the cost cutting measures and Nikon mirrorless camera sales going up, looks like they might have a chance. My D850 / D500 combination is working for me right now so I’ll wait a little while for the mirrorless wars to settle before buying into the new technology.

With a steady price drop over past 3 years from $21ish to $6ish, this is commonly referred to as a "dead cat bounce". Cameras will provide no growth, other company sectors need to improve greatly.
