I was granted access again to the high school Girls Varsity basketball game.
I share all the pics so that always helps of course. I tried a different set up.
Tried the D500 with the Tamron G2 70-200 (vs the D750 last time). I also
threw the 1.4x tele on it and shot at f4. It worked great and let me shoot
really tight. ISO was higher but noise was not an issue. 1/500th was good enough too.
I shot jpegs on basic resolution, files were1.5mb or so. These are straight
from the camera with just basic exposure leveling and cropping. What fun!
The fourth one is my favorite.

Very nice shots skylark!! Love them all. That fourth one IS maybe the best, the intensity of her eyes tells you she is there to play. Keep posting when you can. Thanks and be safe.

Very good shots. Your setup on a crop camera is excellent. I don’t see any noise, and I really like your DOF

Nice framing. If I had any suggestions at all, it would be to rotate the last shot so the vertical lines are vertical, but that is just perhaps nit-picking.

Hi 67skylark27, the eyes have it. Wonderful work on your part. Looks like the gym has some decent lighting. Your shots are clear, white balance is spot on. All is good. How do you like the 500? Love mine.

Thanks Jules! Yes the gym is pretty good on lighting as at 1/500th I was still in the 2000 iso level. I also tried out the active d-lighting setting and bumped it up to high, I like the affect it had. I absolutely love the D500, it's gotta be the best bang for your buck camera out there - especially for sports and birds in flight. The extra fps really helped this go around with the basketball. I picked up a D850 recently but have not had the opportunity to shoot it much outside (-15 here today and overcast most days) looking forward to using that to it's abilities soon.

Thanks, and you are correct - I'm going to go fix that right now!
