Red-tailed Hawk-BIF and some others

The hawk and harrier were circling above as I was shooting birds at ground level. The hawk eventually came directly over my head and at a relatively low level. The vermilion is always a willing subject. Best viewed downloaded.

The red tails are stunning! There are several of them near my office. I would live to capture them as nicely as you have! What telephoto are you using. I have a 70-200 which so far hasn’t gotten me close enough.

I was using a Nikon D500 w/Nikon 80-400. I shoot manual with out a tripod so I set the shutter speed up to 1/3200 Auto ISO f5.6. In my old age, the lens is getting a bit heaver so I need the faster shutter speed. I had been observing a number of these hawks circling a nearby dirt field and sitting atop power poles. So grabbed my camera and got lucky. Thanks for your kind comments and viewing.
