I may never catch that perfect bif photo, with the eyes in perfect focus as it swoops to catch its prey in the water, but I've come across a few of these, which, to me, are priceless. I'll bet many of you have as well. From my film days about 33 years ago.

I’ve been going thru some old B&Ws my Mom had saved. Quality is generally bad, still they’re almost all “keepers”. I’m glad someone thought it was important to take those photos and keep them.

I've got some that my Mom and Dad took that are photographically terrible but to me they're worth a fortune. Question: Is that a scar from openheart surgery on your littlest buddy or just a dribble of maple syrup on his chest? Also your avatar looks a lot like the same little buddy. Is it ? Great topic Steve. I'm going to go through some of my old family pics later on.

Yes, that was his first heart surgery as a result of a bicuspid aortic valve. The second was when he was 12 and had developed endocarditis. They operated to remove the infection. At 25 he had his aortic valve and ascending aorta replaced. Last year, after becoming septic, infection required replacement of the mechanical valve and ascending aorta. The infection was so bad that he almost died. Despite all the surgeries, he has otherwise been in good health and not limited in any way.

The avatar is my grandson, which may explain the resemblance.

reminds me of yesterday I looked at old photo taken pretty sure in 1958 of my father, brother, and sister. my dad's face was little dark so I lightened it a very little and sent it to my brother he called and thanked me and we talked a bit. so it's worth it it to take them and put them away.

Somebody sent me a photo of the Mars High School basket ball team with my dad, the guy who sold me my first camera and the guy who was my elementary school principle. I copied it and sent to my siblings. Also got a photo on computer where they couldn't identify a house and it was my ( family) house.
