Got three shots, can tell you from watching it in flight it had the falcon profile of wing and tail, no soft edge feathers, very clean outline. Pretty sure it is in the falcon family, not as big as a hawk.

Looks like a Coopers Hawk,
On second thought a mature Sharpshinned Hawk.

One bird book said that to tell the differance between a Cooper's and Sharpshinned hawk; If you can get within 20 to 10ft before it flies off it is a Sharpshinned Hawk. A Coppers hawk will fly off before then.

Keep looking at the head, I'm going to go with a sharp skinned juvenile.
