Year before last, I bought an EGO 21" battery-powered, self-propelled lawn mower, and it's been a jewel. Runs great, and I've had no problems at all.

Today, my 25-year old MTD 2-cycle snowblower may have seen its last snow fall. It started all right, but died in the middle of the job, and would not restart. I also have a 24" two-stage Troy Bilt, but it's a bit much for the usual 2-4" of snow each time.

Local Lowes and Ace Hardware both have the EGO 21" snowblower with (2) 5.0 amp batteries for around $600.

Any Hogs have experience with the EGO, or other battery-powered snowblowers?

I’m hoping that problem has been overcome with electric cars!

Snow, when wet, puts a real strain on a snow blower. I would worry about battery life unless you have a really small area to clear.

I bought a nice Troybilt from Lowes when I lived in the Chicago area. After moving to the southern part of the state I was having problems with it. The problem was it was taking up room while never being used so I gave it away. Problem solved.

If my 1987 Toro snow blower ever gives up the ghost, I'll consider battery-powered. As I always say, look for reviews online.

After looking at some videos, I want one!

I had a WORX battery lawnmower. It worked fine for a year, but the battery wouldn't charge the following year. There were no replacement batteries available. WORX said the original batteries were faulty so they sent me a whole new model mower. Same thing happened with that one - battery was dead and non rechargeable the following year. Your snowblower will only be as good as the battery. A replacement battery will probably cost as much as a new machine.
My 25 year old (never serviced) Craftsman 2-stroke blower started to die on me so I bought a big 24" Ariens 4-stroke blower. It is great for the heavy stuff, but a pain in the neck in small spaces or working around the cars or light snow like we have this morning (3").

I stick with gas. Snow is frequently accompanied by power failures and I don’t have a generator.

All I know is the day you buy a snowblower and the day you sell a snowblower are two of the happiest days, kind of like a boat.

My snowblower is like my mower. I look forward to the day I have something different, but dread the day it happens. I'd stay with a fossil fuel blower but those EGOs look sweet.

.Tis much better to simply live where there is no snow I would think. Down here in FL we don’t worry about that stuff. And the HoA handles the grass and bushes.

After living with and shoveling snow for 15 years I finally broke down and bought a snow blower in early December, 2019. I used it one time for about an hour the day I bought it. It hadn't snowed enough since then to pull it out of the garage. We have been in a drought situation for the last year and I was fearful that people would blame me for the lack of snow and rain because of the snow blower I purchased. Weather people have been saying we will get plenty of the white stuff in the next few days. Looks like the SB will get to be used again

When I moved to New England I bought a riding lawnmower with a snowblower attachment. It worked just fine but I found out that no matter which way you aim the chute, the wind will shift to blow it all back onto you.

So I bought a 4wd truck with a snowplow. Sitting in a warm cab beats the snowblower any day.

My son repairs small engines, snowblowers, lawnmowers, snowmobiles, chain saws, etc., and one of the worst things he's found for small engines is the ethanol fuel, AND that people do not run the engines dry before putting them away for the season.

Nothing wrong with buying something new but I would suggest taking the old one to a small engine repair person. They are so easy to repair and at least you will know what part failed.
