Epson Printer Question For Users

I need to replace my photo printer and have seen some good reviews for this one: Epson Expression Photo XP-15000. It's very reasonably priced for a wide format printer and price is important to me, unfortunately. I would appreciate any input from anyone who has used one. I will be using it for photo printing only. Thanks.

I use the model before this one Epson Photo Stylus 1500W and it is an excellent printer and uses Claria ink which is an ink with micro droplets

Have had my XP-15000 for quite a while now and do not hesitate recommending it as it has performed very well for me. The pluses are the smallish form factor, 6 dye based archival inks, up to 13"x19" borderless high quality prints, easy to install, get a few updates a year, can sit for weeks and fires right up without having to waste ink cleaning heads, reasonable document printer. The negatives are ink costs can be highish if you are doing a lot of prints, the lcd status screen is smallish and you have to use the buttons as it is not a touch screen. It is wifi capable, but I've got it hooked directly to my Win10 desktop through a USB cable. I have no problems at all with building new paper profiles using an X-rite i1 Studio.

As you can see from the very quick snapshot I took (please excuse the glare off the glass), it has a nice flat top that ends up being a shelf.

I have owned several HP and Canon printers and have had various issues with them. I switched to an Epson XP-960 and love it! Great prints, no problems. I imagine the 15000 would be similar in quality.

I own and use the XP-15000, and although I may go for weeks in between prints I have never experienced problems with clogged inks, The prints are of outstanding quality and although ink is expensive I have calculated that I can print an image using Epson ink and Epson quality photo paper at less cost than sending the image to Cosco or other services. Also, I have the printed image when I want it.

I have had a Canon Pro9000 Mark II for years and have never had a problem. I know there are newer, and possibly better photo printers out there but this one meets my needs quite well. I recently purchased an Epson XP-7100 all-in-one printer/copier/scanner and it is the worst printer I have had in my 40 years of owning printers. Based on my experience with this one machine, I would be reluctant to buy any Epson product. However, the other reviews on this page are good, so my experience may be a fluke. I have, however, also had a very poor experience with their tech support.

Thanks for the feedback. I decided to buy this printer but when I went online to do that I found every supplier listed the item as out of stock, including such as Adorama, Staples, B&H, and several others. One stated it was because this is "a covid item." Seems strange that a printer would be out of stock becauise of the pandemic.

So I will just have to wait at least a month but I think if will be worth it to get such a good printer (by most accounts) for such a good price. If anyone knows of a store that might have one in stock for less than $400 please let me know. Thanks again.

Some good replies above. I've had both Epson, HP and one Canon 100. The Epson's were good and functional. I would look at the Canon 100. If it fits your needs (size of prints, etc) then take a good look. Best printer I ever owned. I use a very good third party ink and prints are perfect. To be frank, the Epsons I owned were older and I think Epson has gotten around the clogging issues.
Ink for all printers is exorbitant! But I agree with above that it's about the same,or less, than sending out -- and you have a print in hand now -- and can re-crop for what you didn't cut out on the computer screen. Canon introduced the new 200 --- which when I looked at the specs I couldn't see a reason to upgrade. Good Luck and stay safe.

I own the Pro 100, and the only reason to update would be to print panoramas. The deals on the Pro 100's are over. I have a new spare.

I swore I would never buy epson again - but that was years ago - and after my canon printers crapped out
With internal errors, waste ink tank full, and others BS problems after 4 years - time to try something else.
I personally hate HP - IMHO their computers are slow chinese trash, overheat, have class action suits - FOAD
I personally have owned an HP laptop trashed due to MoBo overheating causing the video chip to fall off !!
As an EE in the 1970's, HP was the standard.
In 1978 our USAF GPS development platform was an HP-21MX
What a LONG way they have fallen.
Only epson remains. I got a Workforce 2830 AIO for $75 (OK - military discount)
A set of double-size replacement ink tanks cost more than I paid for the printer.
All else is working great - print, scan, copy
I've not used any FAX capability - as that is done with my Ricoh C261SFNw Laser AIW)
The WF 2830 is available throughout the house via WiFi.
Epson for the present has pretty much excluded any third party replacement ink dealers.
I can deal with that for now - but if epson screws this up - I'll be back in the market for new.
