Zoom is great, but I don't fully understand it. My group has two leaders who run two jams every week. One guy always has the same link. The other has a different link every week.
It was my understanding that once you pay the $150, you get credentials and a permanent link for Zoom meetings. Can anyone explain that better?
I'm in another group that meets once a week socially, but they used to be limited to 40 minute segments, and that never went smoothly. Now they have the unlimited time subscription.
...Jerry...from what I know there is an option when you set up a meeting to list it as a recurring meeting and that keeps the same link...you can attach it to your calendar as well and also attach it to other members calendars...this can only be set if it is the same day and time each week or each month...
Hi Jerry,
We do online Zoom training as part of our business so I can speak with a little experience regarding this answer. The ink is up to the person scheduling the session; the Zoom program allows the scheduler (owner of the account) to select a "repeating" link or a new link for each session. We keep the same link for repeat sessions/groups and use "single time" links for one-of meetings. BUT the Zoom program allows us to use either type of link. The 40-minute segments are with the free Zoom accounts. I've not used one of them in so long I don't remember how it works so I can't give a accurate answer. Take care & ...
Thanks to both of you. That 40-minute meeting did not work well at all. There were always people who could not connect. I like the idea of the same link for each week.
Zoom went public in 2019...is it too late to invest in this company...?
Zoom lifted the 40 minute limit early in the pandemic. I’m sure it will be imposed again when Covid abates.

They did lift it again over Christmas/New Year but it has now been re-instated, so 40 mins only on the free version if there are more than 2 online. However you can go straight back on for another 40 minutes.
