I have used Corel Particle Shop in the past to create abstract art for my own amusement, but I understand that
Adobe won't support Corel (or the other way around) any more. So I unable to get Particle Shop open on my Mac (with Big Sur). Does anyone have experience with an app to produce abstracts? I noticed a little piece about Affinity; the image in the ad seemed to be what I am looking for. I hate to invest in the blind, so has anybody used Affinity for that sort of work, or anything else that is relatively simple yet produces nice art? Thanks!
I presume you're referring to Affinity Photo, which is a "Photoshop-alternative" program with a robust set of features. I'm not sure what kind of abstract effect you're trying to accomplish, but Affinity Photo does offer a 14-day free trial, so no need for blind investment. They also offer about 90 free video tutorials which you can search to see if the program will do what you want.
I too can't get partial shop on Big Sur despite lots of help from the company and in the end I asked was it comparable with Big Sur and was told no. I hope it will be soon as I do like the program..
Thanks for the reply! I guess my old eyes just didn't pick up on the trial being offered. I will take advantage of it and decide whether the app does what I hope it will do. Again, thanks for the reply.

I think you'd like Affinity Designer

Affinity Photo is also good but sort of a Photoshop clone. Designer is the package where you can get flamboyant and express your inner artist!

Takes a bit of time to come up to speed but there isn't much creative that you can't do with it...

FYI - I received an email today from Affinity. Due to Covid, they are offering 90-day free trials of all their software. I suggest you trial both Affinity Photo and Developer.
