I find it hard to track these birds down, but got lucky on this one.

Here is another greenie taken at Huntington Beach SP, SC. They breed there.

Yes, we go there a lot and know where quite a few nests are, but I rarely am able to find them out in the open.

Yes, they stay back in the foliage along the straight road in front of Atalya.

Really nice, Gene. I find Green Herons are either really easy to photograph or very shy and almost impossible to photograph.

That is where this one was. One of the workers showed us several nest back there one year.

Les, I believe the pic you added is a Night-Heron, not a Green Heron. Not sure if it is a Black-crowned or a Yellow-crowned, since both the juveniles look very similar to me.

Very fine image, Gene. That one looks like an adult, to me. If we could see its legs it would be easier to tell; a juvenile's legs are greenish and get more orange as they mature.

I've been fortunate to be able to see them regularly here in KY during their breeding season; they aren't here year round. Looking forward to seeing them again in a few months!
