I entered the Colorado Water Trust Photo Contest last fall. The theme was "Colorful Rivers of Colorado." We had been on a wonderful family float trip down a lazy section of the Colorado River and I entered a few photos from our trip. They were taken with a Fuji XP140 and were jpegs, lightly edited in Luminar 4.
The Trust selected their top 5 from all the entries. Much to my surprise, one of my photos was in the top 5! There was no professional judge: instead, the contest was conducted from the Trust's Facebook page and anyone could vote for their favorite among the top 5.
I'm not too active on Facebook, but I emailed my friends to tell them about the contest. I tried not to indicate which photo of the 5 was mine, just asked them to choose their favorite. Voting continued for a couple of weeks. On the last night, some of my family enlisted their friends to vote...and suddenly my photo had Won!
I don't place much stock in such "people's choice" contests, but it was great fun to be selected to compete...and great fun to Win! Ha! The photo will be used in Water Trust social media this year, so I am honored. My other prizes? Water Trust beanie and other 'swag', a nice cookbook, and some tasty Colorado beers!
A few Hogs even got in on the voting---thanks for participating! And thanks to any who voted for my entry. This is it.
