Amazon just sent me an offer for a glass screen protector for my cannon 90d. Does anyone have experience using one. The cost is minimal $8.00. Thanks for your input

Have used glass screen protectors for years. Simple to attach and preserves the LCD Screen.I would go for it.
Amazon never sends me offers, and I'm a prime member. Are you sure it is legit? Log onto Amazon and search for the product rather than clicking a link or opening an attachment.

This is good advise. Amazon shouldn't be sending offers like this.

Concur.
Amazon only targets me with ads after I log on to prime.
Then they will show me items I have "previously viewed", which I like.

Amazon is not my question. What I am asking is, is installing a screen protector a good Idea? Will a screen protector have a negative effect on my screen brightness? I am looking for people who have used one and there advice on using it. Thanks

Adds protection for your glass screen. I personally have never used one. On need. But, it is a reasonable price. Your 90D screen is designed to withstand almost anything besides a direct hit. And if you did get a direct hit, a screen would do you no good.
I use one on my 7DMKII with no noticeable degradation of brightness. I need to get another one for my other camera.

I've never used one on a camera. I used one once on a cellphone and will never use one again. It's a needless addition that can degrade the display image over time. Unless you are extremely careless with your devices, it serves no purpose.

Received a similar (or possibly the same) suggestion while shopping on Amazon. The glass screen protector seemed like an interesting idea, but some of the reviewers who had put the glass screen protectors on Canon DSLR articulated screens noted that the thickness of the glass protector prevents the proper seating of the articulated screen in the closed position. It seems that the glass screen protectors are notably thicker than plastic-film type protectors.

I've bought several from Amazon, Hard Glass type screen protectors @ $6-8.00, clean the LCD and install per directions (very easy) and they do protect. Very easy to work with, and when you want to remove, no big deal, just don't use anything that would crack or chip your LCD, use a fingernail or some soft tool to lift the edge and pull off, then re-clean and install another. Go for it (and read on)..... latest I've bought - QIBOX Glass Screen Protector Compatible tempered glass for my Sony models, but have bought and used others very similar.
One bonus, I was in the process of instaling one on a Sony Nex that had the nasty looking LCD (like you see in Ebay ads) and mis-aligned...I pulled it back up and it (the soft adhesive on the protector) removed the nasty blue-ish film (bubbly/mottled/nasty to look at) from the LCD - I think it is called "True Black" coating or some such. Seeing this, I used that protector (sacrificed it) touching to and removing from the surface...after a minute or so of this activity, the surface of the LCD looks new....put another (same protector) on it, the LCD now looks just like it did when new - Brand New!! Needless to say, I was both quite pleased and glad I tried putting a protector on it to stop any progression...Happy happy!!
I am telling this for anyone who has a Sony (or other) with a nasty looking (bubbly/mottled/awful to look at) LCD, best $6.00 I've spent in a while, made my little Nex-6 look new again!!!! I have these installed on most of my DSLRs too (ones that didn't have a factory protector) I'm hooked!! And if it hadn't helped to make look new again, I'm convinced now that they definitely do way more good than any possible bad, and no harm when removed. Hope that helps.

I currently have a glass one on both of my Canon 80D and 90D. Also had them on my 50D, 60D and 70D.
They change nothing and can save the screen from severe damage.
I buy mine from Amazon and have always been happy.

I wouldn't bother.
I've used a variety of Canon cameras and their LCD screens are quite durable. I don't recall ever damaging one. My cameras don't get babied and see pretty heavy use, too. I "retired" my two 7D with upwards of 150,000 clicks each. I haven't recently checked the "mileage" on the 7D Mark II's that replaced them, but they certainly get used pretty hard, too.
Even if one does get damaged, I don't know if it's the same now, but in the past it was an inexpensive, DIY job to replace an LCD screen. You could buy the part for about $12 and replace the old one in about 15 minutes. The entire screen didn't need to be replaced... just the glass that covers it.
In a sense, there's already an "armored" glass protector on that screen. So by adding one, you're basically protecting the protector!
That protector also might effect the functionality of the Touchscreen on a 90D.
Years ago with my first DSLR I got some sort of protector for the LCD screen. It fell off and was lost. Then I got some sort of self-adhesive product, but it eventually started to loosen and affected the sharpness of the screen a little, so I took it off and threw it away. I haven't put one on any camera since (about a dozen, I would guess).
Several of my cameras have screens that can be flipped in a way that makes it face the body, leaving it inaccessible for scratching. I always close them when putting them away. Neither they nor my other cameras have been scratched, so I guess I handle them well enough that a screen protector is unnecessary.
I use a glass protector on my 80D. However, it makes the closing not as tight. Just a little sticking out.
Like others, I also always try to close the viewfinder screen in.
In 3 years plus years, I have not replaced the glass. Although I have a spare when purchasing the protector kit
