I've been experimenting with doing B&W conversions and adding some targeted color adjustments back to them. It was either that or work on the honey do list. Thought I'd share some from the first batch !!!

If you would like, Please click on the picture, doing so will link you to the gallery page where the shot can be seen in higher resolution and full page. Thanks for viewing and Have A Blessed Day !!!

Nice effect, I prefer it on the wild life shots.
Are you willing to share the process?

Thank You Bob, I appreciate it. It does seem to work better on the wildlife. These were all edited in Lightroom. Start in the HSL- Saturation, move all sliders to -100 so you've completed de-saturated the images. Create a user preset , mine is De-Sat 1 so you don't have to do this step for every picture. Then click on the targeted adjustment symbol. top left corner of the HSL. Move to the area you want to bring the color back into, left click your mouse and hold, slide your mouse up to increase the saturation. You'll see the color sliders for those colors moving to the right, saturate to taste. I do the other editing in the basic and detail panels first before re saturating. Remember this is a global adjustment, so it works best on shots like the red cardinal or the yellow beak of the eagle, or the John Deere green. Shots where that's the only area that or those colors are !!! PM me if I can help further.

Your color on the message is a strong statement ... full color often confuses and overwhelms with distracting trinkets being shiny bright colors ... you with all but the main message being gray shout the main story clearly.

Thank You Rab-Eye, I think I like it more this way vs the full color shot and it's been one of my favorites for a while now. Taken on an Alaska cruise in 2017.

Nice work on all of these--I really like the machinery photos.

I have played with this style of processing without much success, so I’m interested in your workflow.
