Cooper's, adult feather marking but eyes still yellow so a very young adult. The eyes will go red soon. that is my best guesstimate.

Well it is for sure a small Accipiter but I have a very tough time distinguishing between the sharp-shinned hawks from a Cooper's, especially without a look at the tail. Cooper's usually have a small crown (which I don't see) but sharp-shinned hawks usually don't have the brown nape separating the head from body? Any shot of the tail?

Easy to confuse Sharpies and Coopers, but I vote for Cooper's on this one. For me the distinguishing factor is the neck - Sharpies have neck and head feathers that are similar in color. Cooper's have a light colored neck.

Looks like the Hawk that likes to sit on my feeder most mornings and watches me eat breakfast.
I was told it is a Cooper's

His name is Fred. Another vote for Cooper.
In case no one said it - nice shot.

Thanks to Gene, Bill, and others for the Cooper ID. And I was so sure that was a great shot of a Sharp-shinned. I have a heck of a time ID'ing hawks and obviously am not making much progress telling a Cooper from a Sharpie. Gotta get back to my bird books.

Is a good photo, and likely the Cooper and Sharp-shinned are the most confused hawks, especially when young.
