Does anyone on UHH use one of these on a regular basis and if so any pros/cons? Thanks

You do not want to wear one when you go shopping. Take my word for it!

Will, you might be mistaken for for Saskwatch in one of those.

Not a good idea unless you want to date Swamp Thing or Big Foot. Dogs might even attack you. Halloween? And in some hunting areas you could end up as the prey.

Could be quite hot in warmer climates. I just use camo burlap to cover myself with in a chair - you just cannot move around like you could with ghillie.

A bit over the top for me. Wildlife are use to seeing people in state and national forests and as long as they are not being hunted tend to ignore us as long as we don’t move too fast or try and get too close. I know some recommend camo and I have a pop up camo blind for birding, but wonder what people would think when I was walking the paths to or from a favorite spot to shoot or going back to the parking lot.

A friend of mine uses them. For wild turkeys, he knows their area and goes and waits for them - he's gotten some outstanding photos of the males in full color during mating season... He's also used them to get some great fox pictures where the kits go and play.
He says they are best when they blend in with the natural grasses/weeds. He has multiple suites of varying colors schemes and he matches them to the seasonal colors.
I've tried them on and they weren't that heavy but they do get warm if you're moving around quite a bit. He said you have to be able to be still for extended periods of time, not snore when you drift off, and no sudden movements. He's a former SEAL and is used to wearing them and laying still for hours on end.

Right! You can't buy a generic Ghilly suit and expect to blend in everywhere.

Who cares what people think? I often get strange stares just for carrying a camera.

There are advantages and disadvantages to this type of Suit.
Advantage, if you stand still or sit still for a couple of hours you might have a deer pass you by or a squirrel, or a rabbit, provided you have staked out the area and you have seen them there before or you have baited an area (make sure it is legal) and you know an animal will come by soon.
Disadvantage. Many of these suits are warm, so check the suit before you buy. They also vary in price.
Make sure you are down wind from your intended target. Wildlife have a keen sense of smell and can see small movements really well. This could also mean the sun is wrong.
You have to have extreme patience when using one of these. The pro's point out it is best to lay down with these suits as wildlife are a lot less likely to see you.
I have found if I wear regular clothes and stick to the shadows and I am down wind I can get almost the same result as wearing one of these suits. But, I have never bought one.
Another less obtrusive alternative would be to wear light camo shirt and pants and hat and lens cover.

Fav ranger at a nearby park reported a couple had been coming regularly acting rather odd, he asked what they were looking for they replied "sasquatch" they had spotted one and wanted to document the sighting. I seriously contemplated wearing a ghillie suit to spoof em but in August here in Florida I decided NOT me thanks. In a wildlife management area i might end up with an "ought 6" through my chest tied to the fender of a pickup truck!

Depending , you might need different color patterns to blend in but, it has to be more comfortable.

I wear a 3-D camo jacket, face covering & dark green pants when I go looking for wildlife. As others mentioned, most wildlife key on movement, so be slow & do not walk directly toward the bird or deer. Not mentioned is GET LOW. I take a lot pics of water bird sitting or laying down on the ground.
