Thanks for te reply. No not near dc.........Mine is turned black screen an wont turn on at all.. Not an easy fix for anyone .......I have canon an nikon an my canon took better moon shots then nikon , with out added zooms. I am sad to see it sick. Thanks

shutterbug magazine has a classified section with lists of camera repair companies. You can also go to KEH.com Besides buying and selling used gear, they have an inhouse repair center. Havent used the repair center, but have bought from them and highly recomend them for their honesty and excellant customer service.
Go to canon.com. Hook up with CPS canon Professional Services on the site. Depending on what you need, you can join at an entry level for free and receive reduced rates for camera repairs, reduced rates for loaners There is a hot line to call they will give you the name of an authorized repair service. they are very helpful.
C.R.I.S in Chandler, AZ is an authorized repair facility for all major brands. They will give you a free estimate.
I'm sure you've already done it, but mine's done that a couple of times and I thought it was broken. I put a newly charged battery in it and it work. I didn't get a low battery warning.
