LOL, perhaps it does nothing directly against the virus, but in fact it is our most effective tool against the virus. Kind of like taking elite troops and sending them to an allied country having them train their troops. And then our allied country can better defend itself against attack. A fine point that our elite troops are not in a war!

Well... you are saying sending our troops to train the allied troops, but it is more like sending textbook nerdy military scholars to train the soldiers. The teachers themselves are not effective against the enemy.

Dare I get political (but hey, this is The Attic)... the nerds have figured out that the Red Hats are the bad guys and have taught the citizens to be on the lookout for them. Looks like America has been vaccinated against Trumpism.

Ha! good point. The scholars would not do well in battle. But I think we both agree that in this case the nerds are very effective teachers (which they might not be in real life).

I wish... I have no confidence that Trumpism can be vaccinated against. Trumpism is fed by greed and hatred and lies and the host is exceptionally stupid. I have heard it said that you can't fix stupid.

The recent creator of Trumpism recognized this and he elevated stupidity to benefit himself (what a conman always does).

While a vaccine does not fix stupid, sometimes evolution does, but we have to wait really long for that.

Yes, and much as I think Biden has WAY MORE POTENTIAL to be a decent POTUS than Trump ever had, my fear is that Biden won't be able to fix it even in his 8 years in office.

Maybe he could borrow Trumps magic wand Obama said would be needed to create the economy Trump did.

I guess you have a short memory or attention span. It has been shown ad nauseam that Trump's economic "success" was simply a continuation of the economic improvement of the Obama administration. The slopes of the economic indicators over time show NO DIFFERENCE after Trump came into office. The trends started by the economic recovery plan under Obama simply carried on. There were no "blips" or changes of rate of improvement under Trump. The only positive thing you can say about Trump's influence on the economy is that he didn't screw it up. I won't even go so far as to say that he DID screw it up with the pandemic; I am almost willing to accept that almost any POTUS would have suffered an economic downturn with the pandemic. But I would say that almost any other POTUS would have done a better job of taming the pandemic. The US performance under Trump's "leadership" (cough; hack; ahem) has been dismal!

The whites of your eyes are brown. Why do you think that is?

Denny, please read up a bit on how cells, viruses and the immune system work. Cells, DNA, RNA, mRNA, mitochondria, proteins, antigens, lymphocytes, leukocytes, T-cells, macrophages, etc.

Perhaps I get my knowledge from having a PhD in Cell Biology...

I defer to your education but still have to say your opinion is different than what I read .

I suspect it is more a matter of interpretation, and journalists often use terminology incorrectly as well. Just look up COVID on Wikipedia and read it carefully, including the section on vaccines. It is as I have explained. Cheers!
