It STARTS with 6 characters...and then removal of one. So, the answer is DOZENS. Take away 1 character, and you're left with a DOZEN.

Math teachers used to do things like tell you to count by twelves (or some other number) just to give your brain some exercise (yes one of mine did that) and maybe a head ache. I wonder if she had stock in Bayer or Tylenol????
