Well first I'm inexperienced to the how to of downloading music. So I've made a photo sideshow on Microsoft photo.(New Laptop)
What are the easiest methods for adding an appropriate song to it. Besides the music that comes on the program?
Thank you for your assistance. And Merry Christmas🎅

You can do it in Lightroom and Photoshop. I use Davinci Resolve 16.

1.You may download free music from YouTube.com.
2. Another source is www.mp3million.com. $.09 per tune
3. Of course my own CD collection is another source.

Just be aware that for any public display, you should not use copyrighted music - which is mostly what you want to use. There is lots of generic, royalty-free music available online.

Youtube is a great source, and you'll need a reliable youtube to mp3 converter. This is what I use - https://ytmp3.cc/en13/

As others have warned - do not use copyrighted music without permission from the various parties - publisher, songwriter(s), copyright holder(s), etc. You can get permission from them, or decide to use public domain music.

I use an old copy of Photodex ProShow Producer to add music to my slideshows.

Here is an example:

Youtube is a great source, and you'll need a relia... (show quote)

When posting on YouTube, if you use certain music, it will be deleted - the music, not the video. Or, they might include ads in your video. They seem to have complicated rules, and they vary by country. When my son posts videos with music, sometimes they allow commercial tunes, and sometimes they don't. I know a man who does slide shows of wild animals, and when he shows them in public, he has to use generic music. For home use, he adds any music he wants.

“Generic” .... thaz a verrrrrry charitable description of the royalty free material.

Good stuff is copyrighted. Even if the tunes and lyrics have aged into public domain, the later arrangements and the recorded performances of it are almost always copyrighted.

So if you want decent music you either pay royalties or “fly under the radar”.

BTW, if you never distribute copies of your show, and if you limit your public presentations of it to venues that have an ASCAP-BMI license, then you’ll be 100% legal using copyrighted music.

That's why I took the extra step of contacting Andy Narell directly to get permission to use his track.
