Has anyone noticed much of a difference between AI and Luminar 4? I haven't played around with AI too much yet, but I'm not getting the 'AI' hype.

I agree, I’ll mark that as a poor decision on my part.

Attaching AI to any product gives off some supernatural vibe. It's hard if not impossible to measure AI and so the marketers' will use and abuse this term until it means nothing.

I have been playing around with some of my older photo's and I also have Luminar 4 and 3, and the difference between AI & 4 in my opinion is minimal

I find for the most part 4 is the better product. AI doesn't have "adjustable gradient". I also don't like how they have done the "looks". Wish I could get my money back.

So far I haven't seen much of a benefit to the upgrade except that images seems to load much faster. The one change I've seen is the way the program pushed me to alter my work flow. In Luminar 4 I chose images to edit from he film strip rather than through library module. In AI I'm using the catalog instead. The images on the AI film strip seem to be smaller than in L.4. Too small to be of value in selecting an image to edit.

Where is “adjustable gradient” in AI?

A big complaint on my part is that the so-called manual and tutorials do not have simplistic starts. I am saying, first, give me a chart with arrows and explanations of what controls we will find and what controls we will find within those controls.
Example of something we know, the headlight switch on our cars:
1 This is the head lite switch on your new car, it has 3 positions, off, parking, headlights. Oh! OK, now I understand.
2 You can switch between Hi & Lo beam by pulling toward you. Oh, OK.
3 Pulldown toward your feet and the left turn signal is activated, upward for the right, in between for none. Oh, OK.
With directions like this even a 10 y-old, sitting on a pillow can now drive at night.
With directions like this, those among us who did not do the Beta Luminar Ai can learn.

The line 3 party tutorials show most of the screen as an overcomplicated photo and over to the right edge is the selectable controls shown small, white letters on the black background [is it selectable?]. As with the magician on the NYC street all is presented very fast and I can not follow the pea and nutshell movement.

"Here is a photo. Analyzing this is what we need to change. Here is what controls we will use and why." OH, OK, now I understand. Topaz hour-long Webinars were a great sleep aid... the presenters wandered ... NO ANALYSIS. Too often the photos were complicated and the changes not evident on our screens.. Keep It Simple, KIS, is the best approach I have lectured on tech subjects and the intro should be a catch up for newbies and a refresher for veterans.

When tuning my photos for the Camera Club, I would put them on the cabinet above the coffee pot and mark things to change or correct for a week, make changes and print, then refine. Ai may be too automatic. A change in our world by introducing Ai and new approaches is generally not intuitive and requires slow spoon-feeding. Ai can be great and I fell in love with it using Google's free Deep Dreams.

Found a great Tutorial on Ai, Nicole Young looks at each click within each click... slow and methodical

Adjustments are easily made from the sliders on the bottom right side of your screen kodiac1062.

Merry Christmas!
