My favorite year for Chevrolet. Even though I'm a Ford guy, I would love to have a 56 Chevy.
This looks like an especially nice one. Beautifully photographed.
Had one. It wasn't that pretty. Painted it green myself. Not professional but not bad. Pretty nice machine. Straight six with manual column shift. No AC and crank windows in those days. Cost me $100 in 1965.
The only problem I ever had with it is a kingpin broke. Fortunately, it was at the end of my street at zero mph and the garage to fix it was only a block away. Hated to sell it when I went back to college in the fall. For $100.
In high school (circa 1967) a friend had a beautiful all-white '56 convertible that inspired me to buy a '56 2-door hardtop with a Corvette engine. Mine wasn't nearly as nice as this one. Thanks for the memories. Would like to see some interior shots of this beauty if you have some.
Good shots, KT! A shame that this is a 6, the front of the V8s look good with the big V.

Beauty! A guy was cleaning a car in a NE Indiana auto museum. We struck up a conversation. He said seven cars there were his. His wife didn't know. He said she thought such a thing was stupid! Only his kids knew. He said, "I have half a million dollars sitting here..."

They did a nice job of hiding the gas cap inside that rear tail light. I think the auto makers competed to see who could make life hardest for the service station attendants in the mid to late 50's.
A six-cylinder 210. Loved where you put in the gas. My oldest brother James had a green and white Bel Air two door hardtop top V8. He was 4 years older than me. He sure made me feel like a big deal when he let me ride
shotgun and just the two of us went somewhere. Especially when we wore our boatneck shirts. What a time to
grow up in America.
Brother James passed away a couple of months ago. Other think about him and his 40 Ford pickup with a big Chrysler engine and 6 two barrels, his yellow 55 Pontiac convertible, the 56 Chevy, a 57 Chevy and even an Edsel. He had a new car every year for decades, then all he wanted was old cars and old trucks.
Funny how big a deal cars were during those years.
I wish I still had my ole black & white 56 Chevy. My favorite Chevy is '57, however.

How about a ball joint broke? the last Chev. with kingpins was 1954.
The taillight with the bowtie symbol looks spurious. Mine never had that.
I had one of those as my first car, in baby blue and white. Paid $200 for it in 1965. Wish I hadn’t let it go.

My dad had a turquoise one. Those were sure pretty cars.
