Who says we don't have fall color in Florida!

I know it's December, well past fall. However, this is the most fall color I've seen in some time. This is my front yard Crepe Myrtle. I don't think it has had such a showy stage most years but this caught my attention.

Nice, it reminds me - Bonita Springs, here we come!
Well, right after Christmas.

Yup, brown.
I did see a red tree once.

We may not have the best leaf color in the fall but we have beautiful flowering trees most of the year!

Much the same here in Louisiana, Carol.

I used to have a huge tangerine tree in my front yard, until the freeze of Christmas 1985 killed it (18°).
Couldn't eat them/give them away fast enough.
Looked pretty and smelled great when it blossomed.

Good shot, Carol. Remember that you will not be doing any snow shoveling this winter.

The only signs of "Not Summer" for me here on the panhandle is my grass goes dormant and turns brown. It's nice to see you get a little color :)

It seems late for the Crepe to be losing its leaves. I have another on the other side of the front yard and it is already bare!

I remember that freeze well. We had ice on everything. Your tangerine tree must have been a non-grafted sour version if they couldn’t be eaten. Fortunately most citrus has a wonderful smell when in bloom. They make good honey, too

Thank you, Mike. It was just a snap but I did process out power lines, part of a house and car and a power pole. I’ve never seen snow accumulate on the ground here. In fact, there is almost never any snow in the air even.

Thank you, Karin. I looked out the front window and was really surprised at how pretty it is.

John, many years in the past have only had the color of brush piles drying out along the street after a hurricane. This is the first time the Crepe has had this much color. Usually in fall, the Golden Rain trees provide a colorful display when they bloom.
