I am going to take some photos of some bison in a fenced area. It is an 8 foot high fence, chain link type. How can i shoot photos through the fence and not show the fence. Is it possible?

How close to the fence will you be able to get?

Do 4 things:

Use Longest lens you have.

Shoot Wide Open.

Get As close to the fence as you can get. Touching it is the best. Best semi-open part you can find.

Hope that your subject is the right distance behind the fence. Focus on them and the fence will disappear in your photos.

If you come close to meeting the conditions above you will succeed with some amazing photos, I'm sure.

New AIs claim to do amazing repairs. Get well focused shots and let the software fix them on the computer.
Aim for important details to be in the open areas.

Excellent suggestions. I would have climbed over the fence and prayed no one saw me.

Rent or buy a Drone camera?

Ask the landowner for permission to enter?

Get very close to fence, use a wide aperture. Like 2 to 6 inches. If it is black, good, if it's silver, use polarizer if necessary.

This picture was taken through a fence and I also cropped it a bit.
This was taken with my Nikon D610 and the Nikkor 28-300mm lens. It was shot at 300mm, f/5.6 at 800 ISO.
I did miss a few, but most through the fence came out great.
Just force the camera to focus beyond the fence.

This is great. Make the fence part of the composition instead of getting rid of it and with a little PP, voila! Excellent work here.

Do what Fotoartist said. This was shot through the cage.

If you have a focus limiter on the lens it’ll help.

Last April 1st, I saw a fence filter that was designed to block out posts. Also stated that it would remove glare from glass too. Merry Christmas 🎄
