My favorite commentator here has said numerous times that buying a Canon R5 would change your life. So I bought one, and he was right, it apparently will change my life since my wife wants a divorce after looking at the credit card.
Just kidding!
But, seriously, have many of the hoggers experienced marriage difficulties as a result of their hobby?
My wife loves my photography hobby. She loves the excursions, helping me find subjects, and viewing the results. Great woman.
With the lock-downs resuming and a companion, you might suggest some in-home glamour work to exercise the camera, rooms, clothes and other ideas.

I have been driving myself crazy in an effort to get the R5 dialed in. There is quite a learning curve, when coming from a 5D3, and RP. I did manage a picture of my wife this morning that did not require much work. Let me just say she bought me the camera as a Christmas present, so she is very supportive of my photography as long as I don't show her a bad picture of herself. :-)
My wife and I do photography together and she has better camera gear than I do. She got into the game recently so all of her stuff is newer than mine.
My wife solved that problem; she divorced me.
So far so good. I just got a Tamron 15-30 2.8 G2 to complete my trinty.

No, but whenever we go out with our 2 black Labs, I have a devil of a time getting her to hold on to both dogs while I try to “capture the moment” which usually escapes me while untangling me and the camera from a leash.
Not at all, all my gear costs between $250-$300.... That was till the wife opened by StateFarm Personal Articles Policy and noticed the gear covered was $18,000.00...
That was a total of years of buying filters, bags, etc..... This didn't fly at all, seems as if the cat is out of the bag.
Hope Santa doesn't forget this year, Merry Christmas to all.
The wife still loves me I hope, almost 50 years married. Let's hope that she still wants to stay.....Smile for the Camera......LOL.
My Husband is very supportive. He even set up a Photography tour in Yellowstone and came with me (he is not a photographer). He just had his cellphone camera. He has a great eye for composition. He actually won the best picture taken on that tour.
My husband was very supportive of my photography.
My wife supports my photography but it is getting expensive! She is a competitive shooter. When she started, I had a Rebel t3 with kit lenses. She got a new holster, I'd get a new lense. She got a new pistol, I got a 7D Mark ii. A nice trade off that, in the long run is working. Recently she got into a new class and a new rifle. I leveraged that into a new Mavic Pro!
Compromise is the name of the game. It has to be a two way street...as long as I can afford it!

Very early on I learned that you NEVER EVER Take or Keep an unflattering pic of ANYONE, PERIOD!!!
When in doubt, if the wife says . . . . "Well, it's OK". . . that is a Sure Sign that the pic is Far, Far Less than OK.
In short, my wife encourages my hobby and I enjoy the status of family, and trip "Documentor".

Your response to the OP put a big smile on my face. My husband is very supportive of my hobby. Pre-Covid, we travelled extensively and he plans all of our trips. He always makes sure I can get as much of my fill of photography as is humanly possible. Like your husband, mine is "not a photographer" either. I actually refer to him as "Mr. Point & Shoot". Long story short - one of HIS photos from our trip to Africa took "Best of Show" in the professionally judged part of our photography club's contest. It also took 1st place. Two of his other shots took 2nd and 3rd. One in the professionally judged section and the other in the members section. Only 1 of my shots placed - second place in the professionally judged part. I'm headed back alone to Africa in 2022 on a photography tour. Maybe I should just take a P&S and my Sony RX10 iv so I'll have room in my luggage for some beautifully carved animals done by the locals.

My bride of 51 years is all for my hobby. Just look at the walls in the house. While she only uses her cell phone for the occasional photo she has natural eyes when it comes to composition. Going to keep her for a few more years. :)
