Can’t use Dropbox on new iPad. Maybe there’s a better option?
I often share photos via Dropbox and have been using the free version for years. I use it for documents as well. I got a new iPad Pro and installed Dropbox onto it. However, when I open it, I get a message that says I have reached my limit of devices and they want me to upgrade to Dropbox Plus for $11.99/month. That’s outrageous and more than my Adobe photography plan! I have removed Dropbox from 2 devices AND I have unlinked them from my Dropbox account and I STILL get this message. I even uninstalled the app from the iPad Pro and reinstalled it. Still a no go.
I messed around and opened Dropbox online and managed to open a document in Word, where I modified it and printed it, but I still could not open the same in the app. Why can’t I use Dropbox on this new device even after I Unlinked it from TWO other devices? I’ve searched online and cannot find the answer. It seems like it must be something simple that I am missing, Another question is this:
Would I be able to share, view, and edit pictures and documents just as easily in One Drive, Google Drive or Word/Excel directly? I hope you understand what I am asking.
Thank you in advance!
What did Dropbox say when you contacted them about changing/removing old devices?
I use One Drive, but there is a storage limit for the free version.
Not sure, but I think there is no "limit for devices".

Use Apple iCloud instead. It works fine. For $.99/month, you get 50GB of storage.

This should help.
https://lifehacker.com/how-to-unlink-dropbox-devices-to-meet-the-new-limits-fo-1833322352In short, you have to unlink ALL of your devices and re-link them - up to a limit of 3 - to comply with their new policy.
I just got a MS Office 365 Family plan - which has unlimited device linking per user, and 1 TB per user account cloud storage allotment, for a total of 6 TB for 6 users - I pay $99/yr for that and the full MS office.
Google drive works great for me for the few times I have a huge file or video to send. I never liked Dropbox, not intuitive and clunky
I use iCloud it works great. When I need to share large files with the Windows world I use 'wetransfer.com'. It's free and works great.
I use “we transfer”. Free up to 2gb I think. Simple to use.
WeTransfer isn't bad for sending a large amount of items. Free, so give it a try and see if this fits the bill? Good luck....

You should be addressing these questions to Dropbox.

I use as well after backups of phone and iPad needed more space. I have been very happy with it.
I and my staff use Hightail Express to transfer images back and forth. Free and as simple as drag and drop

I take it you want dropbox primarily for sharing and not storage. Some readers are not getting that. I guess they jumped in without reading the OPs post. No real idea what to do. I find DropBox wanky on Windows with my tower PC and currently have it removed until I find someone experienced enough to walk me thru a proper installation and using DropBox to share files. Yes, any simple alternatives for a Windows 10 PC?

Why not just create a new Dropbox account, remove the pics from the old one, put in the new one and link up the other two devices?

We transfer is a simple free method to send up to 2 Gb per transfer.

Dropbox suggests that unlinking and relinking devices will accomplish the same thing without creating a new account.
