A few years ago I put up a new electric service on a 25' high pole, at a Scout camp in San Diego County. I was not able to finish all the electric wire installation in the metal pipe risers and had to return 3 weeks later. In the "empty" 2" pipe, which had a service head on it that has 3 3/4" holes in the face, I found acorns full to the top.
About 7.5 gallons worth. Ready made storage bin with holes at the top to put the acorns into it.
The only reason the wooden pole didn't have acorn holes in it was due to the pole being covered in creosote.
