Quick Edit - Mac Tool Needed

It's too complicated to describe in short, so simply put: I have an image of a trophy I want to edit as a gag. I'm on a Mac and thought I could do a Q&D with the Mac Preview program, but the area in which I want to overlay text is at an angle, and I need to blot out the existing text and place -- at the same angle -- the new text. I'm not doing anything unlawful here, I'm just trying to "award" a friend a gift "trophy." Any ideas on how I can achieve this simple (?) task?

Pixelmator Pro which is Mac-only, is on sale and it has many features that are more like PhotoShop than Preview.
That said, if you use Preview to export the JPG as a PDF you can add text, etc. very easily.
