I’m trying to decide which camera to purchase, I’m still an amateur so I’m not sure which would be best for me, a D7200, or a D5600’s, I would like your advice and keep in mind I’m still trying to teach myself, plus on line classes, I’ll be selling a lumix dc fz82 and a Nikon D3500, as well as a Nikon D5200, to pay for my next camera, I’ve decided trying to learn all the settings, menus for three models is just to much for my brain to absorb!! thank for your opinions.

If you are selling that many cameras to upgrade you should go all the way get the D500. This you will be thru with upgrades.

Don't be surprised if and when you select one,
you'll still wonder if you made the right decision.

Perfection is a nasty mistress.

Without looking ahead, I bet almost everyone recommends the D7200 over the D5600 - and for good reason. Look for comparisons between the two online. See if either has features that make it more desirable. I never buy anything without looking for reviews and comparisons.

D7200 is excellent - many comparisons available - here are 2 - it comes down to the features that work for you.

Without a budget or some indication of your photography interests or a 'why' of why a D3500 isn't already the best camera for you, it's hard to provide useful advice for a new camera for you. Instead, you'll get advice on what camera is best for others, see above already.

Have you really exhausted an industry standard 24MP D3500? What you are you trying to accomplish this camera cannot do for you? A D5600 is also a 24MP camera. You won't 'see' any difference in the images from these bodies. The D7200 is a 24MP camera. You won't 'see' any difference in the images from these bodies.

What do you envision happening with a newer camera? What lenses are you shooting with? The same lens in front of the same size sensor will yield virtually the same result. Are you capturing your images in RAW and processing with professional-grade software? Do you have a speedlight flash? Do you have a quality tripod? My point is to try to redirect an urge for a new body onto areas that are more likely to yield improved results with your current body.

It's your money. It's your decision. It you let the UHH community spend your money, nothing you have will ever be good enough to their standards. Honesty, there is no logical upgrade from a still new and relevant D3500. If you want to support the economy by spending more of your money, see the other ideas like lenses, software, tripods, flashes, etc.

I think CHG_CANON gave you some good advice.

(If you already have a D5200, why are you considering the D5600? Are there enough differences there to warrant the expenditure?)

Before I upgraded to full frame, I had a D7200. I loved that camera, which I sold a D5500 to get. I highly recommend the D7200!

Continuing with the 24MP sensor observations above, when you review images from the 24MP D5200 vs the 24MP D3500, can you pick out any difference between the images from these two cameras you have already? The cameras are of different generations of the processor, so maybe above ISO-1600 you can see differences in the noise processing. Consider whether a newer camera, still noisy above ISO-1600, is the best solution vs an external flash, if this question even applies?

D7200. Or the D500 if you can afford it.

I think you have way too many cameras already. If you can't decide then nobody can decide for you. Your D3500 is less than 2 years old. If you want to keep buying that would keep Nikon alive.

Balance of price and capability = 7200. Definitely.

But it's amazing how many people "know" what will work for somebody else just because it works for them.

Hey folks, thank for your quick responses, my main thoughts were I’ve got too many cameras now and I can’t get comfortable with using any one if I switch around daily or weekly, so my thought was get rid of all of them but get a really nice Nikon and keep all the lens, straps, etc and study on using that one and try really hard to get comfortable with it, but after listening to you guys I might just keep one of the Nikon’s and sell everything else, thanks again.
