A pic took on a cruise to Norway last year does anyone know why there appeared to be two setting suns ?
Ps thanks to all who replied to my Caribbean cruise question.
No filter used, was like this to the naked eye

What time of the year was it? we went to Norway in June and at that time of the year it's the "land of the mid night sun" about mid night you can actually watch the sun run along the horizon and "rise in the west" or so it seems.
It was june last year that we went on the P&O ship "Arquadia" and It was taken on 1st August at 7.35 pm
I am sure that it had something to do with it being the "Midnight Sun"

I'd guess this has more to do with atmospheric inversions and stuff like that. You are seeing a mirage.

I think you have a great shot of a beautiful sight!
Thanks for your compliment
you had been kidnapped by aliens into an alternate universe, hence on a Norwegewan (no meat) cruise on the way to Suede-an.
Great shot of the sun, rising exactly the same time as it sets, which is late June in Norway not August, meaning it doesn't quite dip below the horizon. They all go out on a cruise on the water on the night of the midnight sun, they are usually very, very drunk... Who would blame them?
What the sun doesn't do, is be in two quadrants of the sky at once, unless you have a double exposure.
Interesting effect, though, worth pursuing.....
Great theory, I hope to return one day to view it again.

First off, a very nice photo. As for the appearance of two suns, might the one on the right actually be some type of rainbow or prism effect? Just guessing. 8-)
another plausible theory, perhaps we need a scientist to explain it ? meanwhile it is a fascinating topic, Thanks
Very nice capture! You've caught a "flair" from the sun---if the clouds had been open on your left one would have been visible there, also. These "flairs" are fairly common on Florida. You could edit out the flair, however, it does add a nice effect to your image. Thanks for posting!
