This is a Wireworm that I found during my walk in the woods which is now part of my preserved collection. They are the larvae of the "Click Beetle".
I've attached a image of the Wireworm on alongside of a scale and an image of an adult Spotted Click Beetle that I found on one of my outings while camping in a wooded park in Tennessee.
They Wireworms require 2 to 6 years in the soil feeding on the roots of grasses and other plants to complete larval development. It is the larval stage like this one that can cause serious damage to lawns and crops such as corn which they eat the seeds as they germinate in the soil. Although economic wireworm damage to field crops is rare, when they are a problem they can be very destructive and difficult to control.
Thanks, Mark. The Wireworms are ornery little cusses and they are as tough as nails and they do not like to be handled. Of course they are totally harmless with no ability to bite, sting or squirt.

Nice shots and I enjoy the educational write-ups you attach to the little creatures.
Thanks, Brenda. I truly appreciate your viewing and feedback. I know little to nothing compared to the learned experts here so I have to research to learn a bit about the subjects that I come across and I share it with others who may have a passing interest.
