On the number of cases.

Covid 19 is the only disease where number of CASES is published. Why? Cases represents the number of positive test results, not active disease. As an example, about 650,000 people die each year from heart disease. The number of cases must be many. Just a guess--probably 70% of the population over 50 has some measure of cardio-vascular disease. But no one knows because cases are not counted. Why count covid cases? Political?

Because it’s a very infectious disease and increasing # of cases in each area increases chances of contracting it. It’s part of health public service in letting people know the risks.

Then why do they NOT count cases in any other contagious disease. The yearly flu for one

They do. The regular flu counts are done every season. The annual flu is not as deadly and has a vaccine. The hospitals are overcome by this illnesses and the healthcare workers are at breaking point due to not enough staff, supplies, therapeutics. There are some very encouraging breakthroughs on both the therapeutics and vaccines so some relief is in sight. There were daily counts of Ebola, H1N1, etc, when those outbreaks happened.

Bobbi, You are truly the most uninformed, yet opinionated person I have ever come across.
You truly believe we don't measure cardiovascular disease?
Explain this:

"This year's report said 121.5 million adults in the U.S. – 48 percent based on 2016 figures – have cardiovascular disease. Heart disease was the No. 1 cause of death in the U.S. and stroke was No. 5, the same ranking as in the previous year."

You're close to what has been making my brain hurt lately. I would like to know how many individuals have been infected. What I see reported are total tests and the number or percent positive tests. Where I get lost on the numbers is that a friend, who has recovered, was diagnosed with an initial test then had to have two negative tests at least a day apart to be declared cured. By my questionable calculations this boosted the number of total tests by three times and the number of negative test by two times. How is it possible to get reliable and accurate information from this?
