High school basketball teams in Oregon were trying that. They couldn't play in Oregon, so our local boys team was driving seven hours each way every weekend to play games in Idaho. But can't do that anymore because the governor found a way to shut it down by requiring quarantines if they leave the state. Eventually the New Mexico basketball teams will have the same problem. It is just a matter of time.
And, the terrible thing about it is no one was getting sick. Not one parent. Not one coach. Not one player. But, no, the governor's know best. Can't play a game.

Other stories have suggested Texas is providing housing, so no return to NM / Auschwitz.
