Sometimes I try and post photos that are not typical (for me anyway). At times they work, at times not. Here are four images of the same picture. Numbers 1 and 2 are the same perspective but in color and black and white. Numbers 3 and 4 are cropped, in color and black and white.

I would like you to choose which you prefer, or none of them, and give your reason(s) if possible. Thanks. 8-)

#3 I just really like the combination of lines and the worn colors.

Thanks for commenting Krgatigm, looks like the color takes an early lead. 8-)

I like #1, I think the color looks better than the B&W and It feels more balanced than the cropped version. IMO. Great shot!

I really like #4..I love B&W..I think it takes a little something extra to pull off a GOOD B&W pic because you are not aided by color! You have to nail it! Many people are using all B&W to decorate their homes now including portraits! You have a good one here,.makes me want to go look in the window....or better yet..waiting for something to pop up and look out at me!!!

#4. I'm not a huge B&W fan but for this I really like it. I like the lines and the rustic wood. You can feel the texture.

Not a terribly easy choice, but I seem to like #4 best. I think the strength of the image is the dominant diagonal lines of the roof, and the tree is not necessary to the image, nor is the color. Hats off to you, bmac, for spotting this element in a great big world of photogenic subjects.
I like all of them, but #4 is my favorite!

Thanks Danilo. I too am partial to diagonals and these days I find myself trying to find them when I can. 8-)

I like the cropped view best, as the tree is not needed and distracts from the primary subject. That said, I have to go with the third image that is done in color. Upon close view, the ravages of time as reflected in the weathered and worn paint is shown in greater depth and detail with the color version. This is very true when looking at the corners where the paint is completely gone, with the raw wood showing, something that the black and white cannot fully show. Also, with the color version, the window glass seems to have a specular quality that truly says old window glass, while the black and white shows the window glass as being flat and unreal.

I love the cropped third image in color. . .that is my opinion, and I am sticking fast to it. Very nice image that I would love to see done as a large 20x24 art piece. Good work, good eye.
