If it is similar to the Petri FT, there is a collar at the attaching end of the lens that will rotate counterclockwise, looking at the front of the lens, then the lens pulls straight off the body.

I finally figured it out. The ring was so tight I was afraid of twisting it thinking I might break something. Now to find a new battery and put a roll through it.

I read that older SLR cameras used a mercury battery but not all. I've also read that the newer batteries often are higher voltage (at least different) so be careful with the one you put into it. My Petri FT uses a "PX625A" Alkaline cell. I did a quick search online and there are several sources where I could get a replacement. I've had the current one for some time and not sure if it has any charge left in it. Good luck with finding a battery and putting some film through your Petri.

For Petri Flex 7: Was mercury battery only. Alkaline will not work. I try alkaline battery in my camera and did not work. Voltage is not same between mercury and alkaline battery.

Although the voltages are different substitute alkaline of the same size for mercury all cameras I have tried worked but the meter is not accurate.
