Eagle: crop a crop sensor? 100-400II 90 D

I cropped the original to this eagle portrait and think the crop sensor image held up well. I was driving to check out some tundra swans and thought I saw something in a tree, U-turn back, yes there is something, U-turn back, pull into field drive, drop window and....

This year I’ve had to do all of my outdoor shooting from the drivers seat due to mobility issues so it’s harder to get poses and angles (as in shadow across the eye)

This is a fine photo with good detail, not over cropped. I am not reading the dark plumage on the eagle's head as a shadow but as the incomplete transformation to all white of a fully mature bald eagle. Nice work, did you get any tundra swans?

I agree with Phil's assessment that this is a not-quite adult bird (for the stages, click here). The "dirty-head" look is not its most photogenic stage

Even with the cropping, you've included enough surroundings to give a nice sense of place feeling.

Thank you, yes found swans but got trigger happy and still looking thru way too man choices

That’s a great photo!
I really like the photos such as this...... of eagles as they really are.
If I want photos of an Eagle with a pure white head, I just go to the zoo.
