I upgraded to DxO PL 4 yesterday and like it.

My work flow remains LR => DxO => LR

I'm provided two images:

The lower image was processed in DxO PL 4 to straighten distortion of the 12mm lens and to remove noise.
I also made some tone adjustments.

Please download and enlarge to see the noise reduction.

I'm happy with it, $69.99 for the upgrade well spent.

I use DXO Photo lab 3 Elite edition and will likely upgrade to PL4 Elite version this week. I have seen it in use on two or three webinars and really like the new features.

If your main interest is the improved Denoise option, make sure your computer and video card has enough horsepower (RAM and other things) to use the more powerful denoise features. The denoise kicks in when an image is exported so you have to export an image to see the full effects.

If you are not sure, download a free trial version to make sure all works as you think it should work. Make sure you download the version that is best for you, Essential or Elite. To take advantage of best denoise, you need the Elite version.

That option only works with Raw files, so the stated workflow would preclude its use if the export from LR is not a Raw format.

DxO provides a Lightroom plug-in that allows export from LR into DxO that it can work with. When it exports the processed file back into LR it's in a DNG format that LR can also work with. Somehow it all works very well.

I have been using DxO as my primary image editing software for several years and also recently updated to Photo Lab 4. Unfortunately DxO does not support Fujifilm RAF (raw) files so I use Capture One to perform initial adjustments then open as a TIFF file in DxO for any finishing touches that may be required.

I have contemplated subscribing to LR / PS but so far I have found that I can achieve all that I want with Capture One, DxO and occasionally On 1 Raw.

Just curious, how wide of an angle did you shoot at?

Would you believe 600mm on a full frame camera! I want to get close without casting a shadow into the image.

Are you sure?! I use Sony cameras myself, but I just opened DXO and see that it provide modules for a lot of Fujifilm cameras and lenses. Maybe not yours?

PhotoLab 4 does not support Fuji x-trans sensors. They do support Fuji cameras with Bayer sensors. They are currently working on x-trans support but there is no published time frame for when it will be available. I wouldn't expect it before PhotoLab 5 is released next October, but I suppose it could be sooner.

Sorry, I got confused about which thread I was commenting on. For the image of a big room with two pianos in it, I used a 12~24 Sigma lens at the 12mm end. DxO PhotoLab 4 supports that lens, so I was able to use the modules to remove distortions intrinsic to that lens and the DxO tools to force the walls parallel.
