In trying to get motion in children playing, what would you control? Trying to keep the child in focus. Blurred moving toys.

You'll need to slow down your shutter duration. Try around 1/10th sec. or 1/8th sec. Be prepared to shoot lots more photos, because you'll have more throw-aways than keepers. But it'll be worth it.
Remember that you'll need a smaller lens aperture to compensate for the slower shutter. Sometimes you may even need a neutral-density filter, if you're in bright sun! A low ISO setting will help you with this (ISO-100).

Shutter speed. Slow it down just a little. It will be tough since both will be moving.

Use a low ISO, slower shutter speed, and small aperture (f16 or smaller). Consider using a circular polarizing filter before ND. I think you will find more applications for the CPL than the ND, although both are good to have.

Just an idea but consider shooting in shade or overcast light and using a flash set to second curtain and experimenting with various slow shutter speeds.

This is why I enjoy you'll. Enjoy and learn. Wish school had been like this.

I haven't had a chance to try anything yet but have made list and will burn a lot of HD space.

I expect if I was I wouldn't be getting fat eating my cake from all the work load. shot edit shot edit shot edit.......

Worse that can happen is I have to take more photos. The strain and stress. LOL

Thanks for the list of solutions for possiblities.
