If you come to a fork in the road, take the road less traveled. 😷😷

Thank you neco and I've done that...and occasionally got stuck!!

Every road is a "rainbow" and at the end of it is always some kind of "pot of gold". I once made the mistake of not following this one road across some tracks and around a turn (maybe only 1/16th mile). I found that road again about three years later only to see an old barn being torn down for the wood. I stopped and asked if anything was in the barn. The young man working there told me it was his grandfathers place and they just sold the farm and that before they started tearing it down they had sold the contents ...... about 40+ old (and I mean old) gas station pumps dating back to at least late 1920's or early 1930's, and they were all in really good shape ...... none of the glass was broken and some only had a few scratches. Boy did I kick myself in the ass all the 185 miles back home; I missed my pot of gold.
Every road is a "rainbow" and at the end... (show quote)

Yes they are and this back road was no exception...interesting story!!

In some our townships in very rural Wisconsin you can still find them. In some of our State's Forests people on their recreation vehicles have cut trails through them; I take my old "junker" on them just to see what I can see. It's fun and sometimes very rewarding.

Yes, they are a lot of fun to explore and I rarely pass them up...good to hear you get out on your junker, life is too short not to enjoy the times spent out in the "wild"

Jederick, I would follow it to the end if possible; you never know what is around the next corner. I imagine that there is a DeLorme Atlas available for Utah. A GPS unit and this Atlas would be invaluable for a backroads fellow such as yourself. I liked these images alot as I do almost everything you post.

Thank you for your very nice comments, RodeoMan, I greatly appreciate them!! Its rare that I don't take one of these roads as far as I can...went all the way to the end on this one. Did have the DeLorme Atlas and two Garmin GPS units with me and, a good topo map...I was all prepared!!

I agree! My husband &. I did that on the road in the Ruby Mtns. of Nevada--until a snowfall avalanche 3 feet high completely blocked us. That early March we were warned of avalanches there; anyway, the spectacular scenery was worth our perseverance.

I love both photos! The 2nd one reminds me of an area of the road along North Lake, west of Bishop, CA.

Good to hear it was a great time and worth the drive. Been to the Ruby Mtns. and marsh and they are a beautiful sight!! I find they always are worth the effort. Thanks for stopping by, Mary and hi to your husband

Many thanks, Mary...been on that road many times fishing Sabrina and North Lake. The Sierra's were are fishing destination and we always made the opener at Crowley Lake. then head over to the June Lake Look and Robinson Creek over at Bridgeport...fun times with the kids!!
