PS does not show up

A new glitch just started today. Here's what I was able to do until today:

Go to file explorer and choose the file I wanted, choose the photo I wanted, right click and tell it to open in PS. No problems...ever.

After updating PS yesterday I can no longer do that. Here's what happens:

File explorer>file>choose photo>....and I no longer have the option to open in PS. It gives me these options: DxO PhotoLab (which I am getting ready to take off the computer), Paint, Paint 3D, Photos. When I go to "choose another app" PS is not there and I have no option to add it. Anyone know why? Thanks.

I also just noted that when trying to open a photo in bridge I get the following message and it won't open:
Windows cannot find C:\programfiles\adobe\adobephotoshop2020\photoshop.exe.

Would just uninstalling and a reinstall be a wise idea?

Did you reboot your computer after you updated all of your Adobe apps? I just checked my computer and when I right click on a jpg image from Explorer I can go down to "Open With" and Photoshop 2021 is the first option. If I right click on a psd file, and click on open, it automatically opens in Photoshop 2021.

When you use Bridge, it seems to be trying to open the old version of PS. You chose to have Adobe remove the old version so now it's not there. Also looks like you didn't update Bridge. What you should do is open "Adobe Creative Cloud" and tell it to update "all" your Adobe apps. This will update your old Bridge app too. Then it should open up PS2021.

One thing you might also do from now on is instead of using Windows Explorer to find and open images, use Bridge. It works similarly to Explorer and when you click on any file that is PS compatible, it WILL open in PS.

I know and I do that. But not all my photos are on bridge. A lot have been transfered to external harddrives and that is where they reside. Saves a little space and until this snag always worked. However, thanks for the advice.

Photos aren't on Bridge. Bridge is just like Explorer in that you just change to the folder where any or all of your photos are, and Bridge will open them. You don't need to add them to Bridge. Bridge is just like Explorer.

Have you tried reassociating the file extension to the (new) program. I use a MAC but windows works the same way.

On W10 units you can associate file type with specific programs.. do a google search for W10 and apps defaults.
